The Milkovsky Region is the heart of Kamchatka. It is protected from the sea winds by mountains ridges and has a comfortable continental climate. The region has cold and snowy winters and warm summers. The summer season continues from June to September. The Milkovsky Region is rich in timber, animals, birds, as well as gold ore. What should tourists do here, you may ask? This place wouldn't be Kamchatka if it didn't have a lot of exotic surprises. The administrative center of the region is Milkovo, a large and relatively modern settlement. To serve travelers there is a hotel, restaurant, stores and a sport complex. In Milkovo and its surroundings areas live a very interesting people known as Kamchadals. This group was created as a result of a mixture of two nations and cultures: Cossacks and Itelmens.
In order to gain a full understanding of the beauty of this area, tourists will need at least 7 to 10 days. There is a great deal to see. A person, who in our opinion, makes the fitting decision to come ot the region by rafting down a river or by driving along the highway and enjoying the gothic aspect of the cliffs of Ganalsky Ridge, will probably want to relax after the trip. Puzchinskye hot springs will be there for him. Don't scrim on time, visit the springs. They are not only beautiful but also very therapeutical for swimming and drinking. Their waters contain carbonic acid, siliceous acid and boron. Those who decided to make the trip to Milkovo, certainly wouldn't want ot miss the beuaty they will find at 150 meter-high Adrianovsky Waterfalls, located in the canyon, or at crystal clear Sevo lake, which tumbles down over the Kamchatka River, where mammoth tusks have been found. As you travel your chosen route if you are lucky you will see otters, cunning wolverines, squirrels, bears, and rabbits. You might even see a bald eagle, a wood grouse, or a swan. It will be interesting to visit "Tayozhny" sanctuary, a refuge for the protection of beavers and swans. If you are a fisherman, Milkovo residents can offer exciting tours along the rivers of their region. You will find out for yourself how generous this warm "Heart of Kamchatka" is!
***In summer the temperature is rather stable from 20-30 C. However, it is still necessary to take along a sweater and a windbreaker. If you do any trekking or rafting you will find that nights may be cold.
